Fill in the blank, "Life is__________." Most of you will quote one of the greatest movies, Forrest Gump, by saying: "...like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get." Some of you will get cliche on me by saying, "...not a dress rehearsal, you only get to live it once." Others will describe existence by filling in the blank with: a rat race, a bowl of cherries, amino acids, a series of choices, a paycheck, the weekend, a party...John 10:10"...I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)."
Why is that we always want to reduce life in size? Reduce it to something measurable?
For many, life is nothing more than the time spent between birth and death. The drudgery of existence. The boring monotony of the routine. The hope of having enough until the end. Have these people bought a lie? Has their life been stolen from them? Well, if we peek at the beginning or John 10:10, what does it say?
"The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy..."
There are many avenues down which we can travel that leads not to life but to destruction. While we would never call these pursuits thieves and robbers...they are just that. They, in there diabolical and methodical ways, attempt to destroy our attempts at life. Where do people go to find life to only discover despair? When you are not enjoying abundant life, you will feel as if life is full of toil. In your heart, life is meaningless and empty. You feel like someone 'grasping for the wind' (Ecclesiastes 2:11). It seems as if nothing you do adds up to much. The Bible calls this life 'under the sun' (v. 11). Someone who lives life under the sun may or may not know God, but God is either forgotten or not the center of things in his life. His thoughts are earthly and he does things to gratify his flesh. In the end, he finds life depressing and unfulfilled. Life under the sun is full of despair.

Jesus said that the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy. But He came that we may have and enjoy life and life more abundantly! The Greek word for, "may have" is, echÅ, which means to have (hold) in the hand, in the sense of wearing, to have (hold) possession of the mind, to hold fast, keep. This is not an inconsistent, roller-coaster of emotion type life!
We are meant to live a life above the sun! For life with Him is filled with joy and pleasures at His right hand (Psalm 16:11).
When you live life above the sun, your thoughts are heavenward and you become Christ-occupied. You live for Him because you know that "all things were created through Him and for Him" (Colossians 1:16). When you life for His glory, your life takes on a new meaning and purpose.Colossians 1:17 says, "And He Himself existed before all things, and in Him all things consist (cohere, are held together)." As you can see in the Amplified version, the Greek word for "consist" means "held together." In Christ, all things are held together! Which is why when Christ is the central figure in our life, we have it all together! Makes sense, right?!
Now, if you are wondering how to make Him the central figure in your life, just look back at yesterday's blog. ABIDE, DWELL, SEEK, DIG, SET UP CAMP, MAKE YOUR PERMANENT HOME...in Him. Find out who He is, what He says about you, what He has ALREADY DONE for you!
Your hopes, dreams, family, life, etc. will be held together perfectly. Our lives will never be empty, but full of God's goodness!
